Insurance Believe it or not , rambling is generally considered quite a high risk activity and obtaining individual insurance can be quite costly . Rambling clubs seeking to obtain their own group cover would be surprised at the expense. It seems that rambling as an activity has been loaded because of poor claims experience by insurers .Countryside Recreation have a policy to provide an indemnity to private landowners, on whose lands the Waymarked ways and the Ulster Way cross. Ideally all individuals who are using the Waymarked ways and the Ulster Way, should have their own personal liability cover to protect them from being sued by the landowner. Club Insurance It is of vital importance that all Clubs walking in the countryside protect themselves against the disastrous consequences of liability for injury or damage arising out of their actions and this includes the actions of all executive officials, members and volunteers. Such officials and members at all levels could find themselves held personally responsible for court costs and damages awarded where an action has been brought against the club for negligence and it is essential that adequate liability cover is arranged to avoid such consequences. Clubs affiliated to UFRC may obtain Civil Liability Insurance at a favourable rate from Perkins Slade Limited.
