Matthew Bushby, Countryside Services Manager with Mourne Heritage Trust invited members of UFRC, Mountaineering Ireland and Mountain View.ie (Blog site) to a site visit of some of the work being carried out by Mourne Heritage Trust.
We all arrived at their office in The Silent Valley and were shown a slide show of what it was like before their path work was done. Then we drove up to the Ben Crom Dam whereby we walked up on to the col between Slieve Binnian and Slieve Lamagan. From there we proceed up onto Binnian North Tor. Whilst walking and stopping, there were interesting debates, rights and wrongs of some of the Path work being done by MHT. Some of the works was done professional by using diggers and helicopters and other path works was done by volunteers.
UFRC would like to thank Matthew Bushby for inviting us in the UFRC to this site visit. David Sloan and Simon Reardon represented the UFRC.
