Take the next step and build upon your initial experience of walking by learning about navigational skills and techniques that will develop and expand your skills when leading walking groups. It is essential that those who attend this workshop have a basic knowledge of orienteering the maps, reading contour lines, grid references and using a compass, map reading.
The training will be tailored to suit the group and will include:
- Using the Compass
- Understanding contours
- Timing and Pacing
- Route Planning
- Dealing with emergency incidents
- Magnetic Bearings – How to walk on a bearing accurately
- Orientating the map using the compass
