Survey on wild camping in Northern Ireland

Here at Tollymore National Outdoor Centre we are currently working alongside the Mourne Heritage Trust and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to carry out research into an area highlighted in the Outdoor Recreation Action Plan for Northern Ireland.

The Plan published in June 2014 identified the need for research to be carried out into current and needed infrastructure for wild camping in key areas. [Action 6D]

In order for a structured and successful plan to be put in place we need baseline data on the extent of wild camping taking place in The Mournes, The Antrim Hills, The Sperrins and Fermanagh.

To this end we have put together a short survey. We would be grateful if you could distribute this to leaders who take people camping, thus helping us to build as broad a picture as we can and to actually tackle the real issues.

The survey will be open until Monday 20th April.

Please ensure that only one leader in your group/school enters the information to avoid any duplication.
