The Sperrins Outdoor Recreation Forum and Network will be holding an open network meeting on Tuesday 28th April in Broughderg Community Centre, 123 Broughderg Road, Mountfield, Omagh, County Tyrone BT79 8JN at 7.30pm.

The purpose of the Outdoor Recreation Forum is to provide a mechanism for interested parties to help to make the outdoors more accessible and enjoyable for outdoor recreation, in ways that address social, economic and environmental interests, and with regard to issues of particular local relevance.

At this open meeting the Forum will report on the work that they have undertaken in the past year and highlight some of the developments in outdoor recreation that have been happening in the Sperrins through the work of members of the Forum, Sperrins Gateway Landscape Partnership, the various clubs and governing bodies of sport and local councils.

At this network meeting we will be electing 16 new representatives for the forum and will seek nominations from across the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty area comprising some of the four new super council areas of:

  • Derry City and Strabane
  • Causeway Coast and Glens
  • Mid Ulster
  • Fermanagh & Omagh

Ideally the forum will be made up of two people representing each of the following sectors:

  1. Outdoor activity providers
  2. Community groups
  3. Education (DofE/An Gaisce)
  4. Environment and Conservation
  5. Hospitality industry
  6. Land owners
  7. Outdoor sports clubs
  8. Walking clubs

The forum encourages all those interested in the development of outdoor recreation in the area to come along, hear what is being done and to be part of the group seeking to drive forward new opportunities for outdoor recreation in the area.
