The first UFRC Spring on Saturday 4th March 2017 was a huge success. The event which was held in Greenmount Agricultural College, Co. Antrim attracted walk enthusiasts from across Northern Ireland who enjoyed an action packed day of inspirational walks and a host of training opportunities.
UFRC were joined for the day by Mike McClure (SportNI) and Hannah Shields (The first Northern Irish woman to summit Mt. Everest) who delivered an inspirational talk on her walking journey from Binevenagh to the summit of the worlds highest mountain.
The UFRC was pleased to have Cotswold Outdoor & North West Mountain Rescue Team host informative stalls and deliver workshop sessions in the afternoon.
Following a delicious 3 course lunch the afternoon session saw walkers develop their skills in a wide range of training workshops including; geocaching, first aid, navigation and promoting and marketing their club.
Reflecting on the day the Committee where encouraged to see such fantastic support from the clubs and are already looking forward to 2018.
