On Thursday 28th January 2016 Walking in Your Community & UFRC attended ‘Improving Support for health and community walking in Northern Ireland’ held in Crawfordburn Country Park.
This one day workshop held in Crawfordsburn Country Park was a platform allowing views to be shared on how we could provide better and more consistent support for health and community led walks.
Throughout the day various experiences were share as to how things are working at the moment as well as views on how improvements can be made in the future. It is hoped this coordinated approach will provide more support for leaders, training and developing of leaders and running additional and better walks to consitent standards.
Walking in Your Community & UFRC were joined by representatives from SportNI, Public Health Agency, Macmillan Cancer Support as well as other health promoters and stakeholders.
The discussion will feed directly into the new vision and framework which is planned to launch next spring.
