Welcome Walk with Out and About Hikers (UFRC Open Weekend 2018)

Enjoy a welcome and a walk with Out and About Hikers – a walking group for the LGBT community and for family and friends of the LGBT community.

  • Sunday 30th September 2018
  • Meelmore Lodge, Mourne Mountains, Co. Down
  • 11am to 4pm (Meet at Meelmore Lodge for coffee and an icebreaker chat. The walk will begin at 12 noon.)

As part of this years UFRC Open weekend Out and About Hikers are inviting 12 guests to join them for a Welcome Walk on Sunday 30th September 2018. A beginner level walk with a good challenge, the walk is open to all those with a good level of fitness.

The walk is approximately 4 miles long over heather, bog, grass and stone paths. The ascent from Meelmore Lodge to the Hare’s Gap is 240 metres The walk, including short breaks and a picnic lunch, will take from 3 to 4 hours to complete at an easy pace.

What to wear:
Warm clothes, Hill walking boots, waterproofs, backpack with packed lunch and water or flask for tea or coffee. A change of clothes in the cars left at Meelmore Lodge in case we get a soaking in heavy rain.

Suitability:
Aged 18+ yrs and over and a generally good level of fitness and stamina. After the walk you are welcome to join us for a chat in Meelmore Lodge bistro which remains open to 6pm on a Sunday.

Directions to the Event:
Meet at the car park bounded by Exchange Street, Corporation Street and the Dunbar Link in Belfast around 10.15am on Sunday 30 September 2018. We leave around 10.30am. Let us know if you need to share a space in one of our cars for a lift from this car park to the Meelmore Lodge and back again to Exchange St. Contact Michael at
